Hotel Riu Plaza España: the essentials

The 360º Rooftop Bar: who can go up and what it costs

The terrace is on the 27th floor, with the glass-floored walkway linking its two areas and a glass platform suspended in the air. One floor below, on the 26th, is the El Edén gastrobar (tapas, 12:00 to 23:30).

  • Entry does not include a drink, but there is no minimum spend. Typical drink prices according to RIU: soda about 4 EUR, cocktail 12 to 14 EUR, coffee about 3 EUR.
  • Usual hours: every day 11:00 to 1:00, last entry at midnight. This is RIU's own answer and may change with the season: confirm on riu.com.
  • The terrace cannot be booked; the El Edén gastrobar can. A practical trick: book lunch or dinner at El Edén, then go up to the terrace for a drink.
  • For a photo with fewer people, go on a weekday morning; sunset is the best moment but also the busiest.

Rooms and prices

On riu.com on 26 October 2026 these starting prices were shown (the page does not say whether they are per night or include taxes, and they vary by date):

If the view matters, pay for the room with views or ask for a high floor. Prices are variable: always compare exact dates, with free cancellation if possible.

Location: pros and cons

  • Pros: metro at the door, Gran Vía and the Royal Palace a few minutes on foot, the Temple of Debod nearby, and a rooftop on site without paying admission.
  • Cons: a noisy, busy area; pickpockets on the square and in the metro; Sol and the Prado are 20 to 25 minutes on foot.
  • Best for: a short first visit, travellers who want views and comfort. For a neighbourhood feel, look at Malasaña or La Latina.
