Museo del Aire Madrid: Opening Hours, Price (Free) and Access

Updated on October 23, 2026

Madrid Air Museum (Museo del Aire), hours and price: open Tuesday to Sunday 10:00-14:00 (last admission 13:30), closed Mondays, and entry is free (EUR 0) with no booking for individual visitors. Museo del Aire, officially the Museo de Aeronáutica y Astronáutica, presents Spanish aviation history at Cuatro Vientos. Its collection spans hangars and an outdoor aircraft display. Individual admission is free, without booking; donations are optional. The museum opens in the morning only, with last admission before closing. The Sala de Laureados in hangar 1 is announced closed for works, which does not mean that the entire museum is closed.

Highlights

Outdoor aircraft

Outdoor aircraft

The photograph shows an aircraft genuinely held by the museum. Compare shapes and dimensions; authorised areas can change and access inside cockpits should not be assumed.

The hangars

These add historical and technical displays to the aircraft outside. Alternate between spaces along the available route without crossing barriers to inspect details.

Engines and equipment

Engines, models and related objects help explain changes in technology. Read the labels to connect each aircraft with its purpose and period.

Spanish aviation history

The museum preserves examples of civil and military aviation. It is a heritage collection, not an air show or a promise of flying demonstrations.

Tips

  • Come early and allow time to travel from the centre, as the address is on the outskirts. The museum temporarily prohibits large bags measuring at least 40 cm and backpacks; mention any particular needs at the entrance. Do not touch aircraft and keep to marked routes. Guided groups must request a slot ahead under the official conditions. Detailed accessibility across all areas has not been confirmed; enquire according to your needs. For other technical collections, see the Railway Museum and Naval Museum. Casa de Campo is another substantial outing in the west, to arrange separately. Price and booking: free, no booking for individuals; groups must ask in advance. From Cuatro Vientos metro (line 10) it is about 1 km on foot.

How to get there

Carretera A-5, km 10.7, 28024 Madrid. Metro Cuatro Vientos, line 10, then walk; buses serving Escuela de Transmisiones are another option to check before departure.
