Madrid Zoo Aquarium: tickets, opening times and pandas

Updated on October 5, 2026

In Casa de Campo, west of central Madrid, the Zoo Aquarium combines animal enclosures, birds and an aquarium on a largely outdoor route. Giant pandas are one reason to visit, while gorillas, giraffes and Iberian species add variety. Allow a generous half-day rather than making a quick detour from the centre. This is a separate paid attraction from the public Casa de Campo park and the nearby Parque de Atracciones.

Highlights

Giant pandas

Jin Xi and Zhu Yu arrived from Chengdu in April 2024 and were introduced to visitors in May, replacing the previous panda family. Whether you can see them depends on their activity and which spaces are open during your visit: do not promise children continuous sightings.

The mammal route

Areas arranged by broad world regions take you from dromedaries to giraffes and gorillas. Pick a few priority species and leave time to watch them rather than rushing past every enclosure. The photograph illustrates the zoo without guaranteeing that this individual is still there today.

Birds and the aquarium

Flamingos and pelicans offer a different way to observe animals, while the aquarium complements the outdoor areas. Check the day's schedule for educational presentations; their times are separate from general opening hours.

Tips

Prices checked in October 2026: dated online tickets from €19.90 for ages 8-64 and from €16.90 for ages 3-7; at the gate, €29.50 and €23.90 respectively. Children under 3 enter free; online prices depend on the date. The zoo lists changing tables in both men's and women's toilets, drinking fountains and a picnic area for your own food. Pick up a map on arrival and locate places to take breaks before starting your visit.

How to get there
