MUNCYT Alcobendas: opening times, free entry and visiting tips

Updated on October 15, 2026

MUNCYT Alcobendas is the branch of Spain's National Museum of Science and Technology devoted to discovering instruments and their uses. Permanent and temporary exhibitions are free; activities may have separate charges. Historical objects and interactive modules bring observation and experimentation together. Check ticket and workshop availability through the official ticket service before travelling. This address is in Alcobendas, not at MUNCYT's central Madrid premises.

Highlights

Scientific instruments

Scientific instruments

The collection shows how people measured, observed and experimented. Connect an object with the question it helped answer; this makes the museum more meaningful than a succession of old machines.

Everyday technologies

Communication, imaging and transport devices place innovation in the context of use. Look for familiar objects and compare them with their predecessors.

Interactive modules

The Gabinete space and interactive modules offer another approach to science. Follow instructions and let everyone take a turn; devices are not all intended for the same ages.

Organised activities

Workshops, tours and sessions depend on the programme and available places. Choose an activity suitable for your group, checking its recommended age, time and any charge separately.

Tips

  • Free museum admission does not guarantee a place in every workshop. Groups of more than 10 must notify the museum, and children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. The ticket office closes 20 minutes before the museum; do not leave your arrival that late. If you need a route without steps, ask about the precise arrangements for your chosen spaces and activity. Compare this outing with the Madrid Planetarium, Geomineral Museum or Natural Sciences Museum, which have their own access arrangements. Allow for transport rather than squeezing Alcobendas between two central visits.

How to get there

Calle Pintor Velázquez, 5, 28100 Alcobendas, Madrid. Metro line 10 to Marqués de la Valdavia, then walk; check your full route and transport conditions before leaving.
