Centro de Arte Canal Madrid: exhibitions, times and tickets
Centro de Arte Canal is Fundación Canal's Castellana 214 exhibition hall, housed in a former water reservoir. It hosts large temporary exhibitions and is separate from the hall at Mateo Inurria 2. As of 15 October 2026, the next announced exhibition is “Aqua Mater”, featuring photographs by Sebastião Salgado, opening on 28 October 2026. Its announced general admission is €15 (prices checked in October 2026), with advance purchase recommended. Check your travel dates before planning to go inside.
Highlights

The former reservoir
The photograph shows the Castellana 214 exhibition venue. Its water infrastructure heritage gives the exhibitions a distinctive setting, but does not mean that the spaces open between exhibitions.
Aqua Mater
The announced programme brings together Salgado's Aqua Mater and Glaciares series, exploring water and landscapes. This is a dated exhibition rather than a permanent collection available on every trip.
Large photographic prints
The images and soundscape encourage a slower visit. Allow time to study details and read the explanations instead of moving through the rooms only to take pictures.
Two separate halls
Mateo Inurria 2 is another foundation address, with its own programme and opening times. Check the hall named on your ticket to avoid arriving at the wrong entrance.
Practical info
Tips
- For Aqua Mater, choose a slot through the official ticket service and check concession conditions rather than relying on a headline “from” price. The website describes an accessible space and allows photography without flash; tripods and selfie sticks are prohibited. Last admission is earlier than closing time. For another outing in the north, see the Santiago Bernabéu stadium; for exhibitions, compare Fundación Mapfre and the Juan March Foundation, elsewhere in Madrid. Free admission to a different foundation activity does not establish free entry to Castellana 214.
How to get there
Paseo de la Castellana 214, 28046 Madrid. Metro Plaza de Castilla, lines 1, 9 and 10. The hall at Mateo Inurria 2, 28036 Madrid, is separate.
