Museo del Traje – Centro de Investigación del Patrimonio Etnológico explores the history of dress and fashion through Spain's national collections. Located on the university campus, it connects silhouettes, textile techniques and social customs rather than focusing only on designer dresses. The displays bring together historical clothing, traditional costume and contemporary fashion. Choose it to discover a different Madrid museum away from the Paseo del Arte.
Highlights

The museum's leafy setting
The modern building and outdoor spaces form an ensemble very different from the palace museums in the centre. The photograph shows the fountain in front of the museum; keep the galleries at the heart of your visit.
Changing silhouettes
Look at how cuts, accessories and materials alter posture and appearance. Objects and documents displayed alongside the clothes explain the context in which they were worn.
Designers and traditions
The holdings include designs by Mariano Fortuny and Cristóbal Balenciaga, as well as regional costumes. Textiles are fragile and exhibits rotate: a particular design cannot be guaranteed on every visit.
