San Antón Market (Chueca): fresh produce, tapas and a rooftop terrace
At 24 Calle Augusto Figueroa, in the heart of Chueca, San Antón is a municipal market that reopened in 2011 in a new building. Over three levels it brings together fresh produce stalls, tapas and takeaway counters, and a restaurant with a rooftop terrace. It is a good compromise between a neighbourhood market for shopping and a food hall for grazing.
Highlights

The facade and ground floor
The first level keeps fishmongers, charcuterie, bakery and wine stalls. Walk through before going upstairs: this is what sets San Antón apart from a simple food hall.

The second-floor counters
Tapas and takeaway dishes from a range of cuisines. Compare the counters before ordering; prices are displayed at each stand.
The rooftop terrace
The top-floor restaurant has a terrace overlooking Chueca's rooftops. Check service hours and whether you need to book before going up.

Tips
Admission is free; you only pay for what you buy, at the prices displayed by each trader. The three levels keep different hours (checked in October 2026): the building's opening does not guarantee that every stand is open. Fresh stalls close on Sundays. If you have dietary needs, ask the counter directly what a dish contains.
