Paella and sangria: the most booked
The class takes place in the city centre, calle de la Montera 24, with a local chef: you cook a paella and make the sangria, take the recipes home, and the meal (lunch or dinner) is included, with unlimited sangria. No experience is needed; classes are given in English and Spanish. Vegetarian and allergy options are listed. The meeting point is outside the building, next to a tattoo shop; at weekends the main entrance is closed and the group goes through the car park. The page warns that places go fast: book ahead.
Sangria, flamenco and other ideas with friends
If you want something shorter, the two-hour sangria workshop with cheese tasting has you prepare two or three styles of sangria and explains their history. The two-hour flamenco class with unlimited sangria suits a group that wants to move; to see a real show afterwards, read our guide to flamenco in Madrid. Shorter private flamenco classes (1 to 1.5 hours) also exist, from about $45 per person on a 2025 page.
Ceramics and perfume: more creative
Ceramic painting (2 h 30, with a glass of wine) is the most accessible: check in the description whether you shape the piece or decorate a ready-made one, as it is not always the same thing. A 3-hour introduction to ceramics is offered at The Pottery Madrid. For a longer stay, an independent studio offers ceramic jewellery courses over two 4-hour Saturdays for €170 (materials and firing included, undated price, to be confirmed). The Nectárion perfume workshop, about an hour, has you compose a personal scent with the founder-perfumer: one of the most expensive activities on the list, to book as a gift rather than an impromptu outing.
Couples, friends, children
As a couple, the simplest choice is paella or ceramics, which you can combine with a romantic day in Madrid. With friends, sangria or flamenco work well in the evening. With children, I have not verified a minimum age for these workshops: read each activity's page before booking, and see our guide Madrid with children. In bad weather, this kind of workshop is also a good idea for a rainy day in Madrid.
Before you book
Always compare the final price and the cancellation terms on the page you choose. State any allergies when booking. Arrive ten minutes before the start, especially if the meeting point is a building door.
