The essentials at a glance

What the day includes

The park brings together several daytime shows, historical villages, craft workshops and themed restaurants. Shows run at fixed times: on arrival, check the day's programme (the park has an app with the map and schedules) and build your route around the performances rather than the other way round. Allow a full day for the park. The park's Pase Emoción gives faster access and preferred seats at some shows; it is optional.

El Sueño de Toledo, the night show

El Sueño de Toledo, the park's night show

The night show tells fifteen centuries of Spanish history in about 80 minutes, on an open-air stage with water, light and more than 200 actors. It is the park's flagship attraction. It starts after dark: in summer that is late, so the journey back to Madrid happens after 23:00. Doing the park by day and the show in the evening means staying on site for many hours: plan to eat there. If you don't want to return to Madrid late, sleep in Toledo (see our page on Toledo).

How to get from central Madrid to the park

  • Direct bus from Madrid. The park launched a direct service leaving from Plaza de Cánovas del Castillo, near the Neptune fountain: at 9:30 am from March to June and from September to November, at 10:30 am in July and August (according to information published by the park and the press; check days and return times when you book). Combined tickets sold online start from the same meeting point.
  • Train then taxi. The train from Madrid-Atocha to Toledo takes about 30 minutes (see our guide to transport in Madrid). The station is about ten minutes by car from the park: take a taxi or a pre-booked transfer.
  • ALSA bus then taxi. Coaches leave from the Estación Sur bus station (Méndez Álvaro) for Toledo; the park is 10-12 km from Toledo bus station.
  • Car. About 45 to 55 minutes from Madrid on the CM-40, exit 13, with a large car park on site. For a night-time drive back, choose a driver who hasn't been drinking.

Tickets: what you can book from Madrid

Three options cover most needs.

Preparing the day well

  • Shoes and water. The park is large and in full sun in summer; bring a cap and sunscreen.
  • Opening days. The season runs from March to early January, but not every day is necessarily open: check the calendar before choosing your date.
  • Opening times. Published calendars show an opening around 11:00 am (earlier on Saturdays, later in July and August): check them on the official website for your date.
  • With children. Child prices exist for ages 3-13; under-3s get in free. See Madrid with children.
  • Combining with Toledo. One day is not enough for both the park and the old town: if you want to see both, spend a night in Toledo. To visit the city, read which Toledo excursion to choose and Toledo or Segovia.

Which option to choose?

  • No car, a day and an evening: the ticket with transport from Madrid.
  • With a car: park and show tickets bought directly, and the on-site car park.
  • Sleeping in Toledo: the combined ticket without transport.
  • Short on time or on a budget: the daytime park alone, without the evening.
