Where to stand
The route heads down the Castellana toward the centre: the closer to Cibeles, the denser the crowd. To see the floats up close with children, pick a spot further up the route or arrive 90 minutes early. Neighbourhood parades also run in the districts (Barajas, La Latina) at different times. The next day, 6 January, is a public holiday: gifts, roscón and most shops closed. See Christmas in Madrid and Madrid in January.
