Madrid cable car (Teleférico): closed for renovation, reopening expected early 2027
The Madrid cable car links Paseo del Pintor Rosales, next to the Parque del Oeste, with the Cerro Garabitas in the Casa de Campo. The line is a little over 2 kilometres long, rises to about 40 metres and gives a panorama over the Royal Palace and the Almudena Cathedral. Important notice: it is currently closed for renovation, with reopening announced for the first quarter of 2027 (checked in October 2026). Check the service status on the official website before planning your day, as the date may change. Meanwhile, you can find nearby views from the Moncloa Lighthouse or the Temple of Debod.
Highlights

The view of the Royal Palace
From the cabin, the Royal Palace and the Almudena Cathedral stand out above the trees of the Parque del Oeste. It is the best-known view of the ride.
The crossing to the Casa de Campo
The ride flies over the Parque del Oeste and then the Casa de Campo, the city's largest public park. It gives a sense of the scale of this green expanse west of the centre.
The Cerro Garabitas
The arrival station is in the Casa de Campo: it is the starting point for walks or bike rides.

Tips
Before the closure, an adult ticket cost €4.50 one way and €6 return; children aged 4 to 12 and over-65s paid €4 and €5. These are pre-works fares and may change on reopening: do not treat them as confirmed for 2027. If you ride, plan the return trip into your time, as the Garabitas station is away from the park's busier areas.
How to get there
Departure station: Paseo del Pintor Rosales, 28008 Madrid, near the Parque del Oeste. Metro Argüelles (lines 3, 4 and 6) or Ventura Rodríguez (line 3), then a few minutes on foot.
