Ratón Pérez House Museum Madrid: times, tickets and tips

Updated on October 15, 2026

La Casita-Museo de Ratón Pérez is a small family attraction devoted to the mouse that collects children's milk teeth in Spanish tradition. It is upstairs in the Arenal 8 shopping arcade, near Puerta del Sol. The guided visit lasts around 40 minutes and costs €7 from age 2 (prices checked in October 2026). The museum strongly recommends booking ahead, as admission is organised in small timed groups. A virtual reality experience is available separately and is not automatically included.

Highlights

The Arenal 8 address

The Arenal 8 address

Find the building and its arcade before looking for the little house. The photograph helps identify the location; museum access is inside and upstairs.

The character's story

The visit introduces Ratón Pérez and his world, linked to Luis Coloma's tale. Present it to children as a story to discover, without promising an encounter with a real animal.

The miniature house

A biscuit tin and the family's living spaces form the story's setting. Follow the explanations rather than expecting a large exhibition to explore freely.

Letters to Pérez

The letterbox is part of the world presented at the museum. Visit details may evolve: ask staff what is offered on your day rather than assuming an extra workshop is included.

Tips

  • Use only the booking contact details on the official website and wait for a confirmed slot before planning the rest of your day. The museum states that its floor is reached by stairs and there is no lift. Pushchairs are left where the guides indicate. Admission is free for under-2s; the museum's age rule differs from an older municipal listing. Combine with Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor, or browse our ideas for churros and pastries for a break afterwards. Check the language offered if you do not understand Spanish.

How to get there

Calle del Arenal, 8, first floor of the shopping arcade, 28013 Madrid. Walk from Sol; do not look for a large independent museum entrance on the street.

Opening hours
