June weather: hot and dry

The Chueca neighbourhood during Pride

Madrid-Retiro normals June
Average maximum temperature 28.2 °C
Average minimum temperature 16.1 °C
Rainfall about 21 mm
Rainy days about 3.4

Source: climate normals from the Spanish meteorological agency (AEMET), Madrid-Retiro station, 1981-2010 period. These are averages: peaks of 35 °C are possible, especially at the end of the month. Plan outdoor visits early in the morning or after 7 p.m., and keep water, a hat and sunscreen with you. For the season, read Madrid in summer.

Public holidays and closures

There is no national holiday in June. 24 June (Saint John) is not a holiday in Madrid. Museums keep their usual hours; small neighbourhood shops start reducing hours at the end of June. Check each venue's hours on its official site.

Crowds and prices in June

June is busy: end of the school year, start of the holidays, concerts and festivals. Hotel prices rise at the end of the month, and above all during Pride. Early in the month, crowds are more moderate than in May. To choose a neighbourhood, see where to stay in Madrid, and for spending the Madrid travel budget.

June 2027 events

Retiro book fair: until mid-June

The free Feria del Libro takes over the Paseo de Coches of the Retiro. In 2026 it ran from 29 May to 14 June; the 2027 dates have not yet been announced.

13 June: San Antonio de la Florida

On 13 June, Saint Anthony's Day, the area around the San Antonio de la Florida hermitage is in festive mood and the hermitage, which holds Goya's frescoes, is very busy. Come early, or on another day to see the frescoes in peace.

San Juan Night: 23 June

Saint John's Eve is celebrated in several neighbourhoods and parks with bonfires and local parties. Rules on fires are strict: ask the City. See also the calendar of local festivals.

Start of Pride: late June

Madrid Pride (MADO) covers the end of June and the beginning of July. The tourist office provisionally announced the opening speech (pregón) for Wednesday 30 June 2027, subject to confirmation. For all details (dates, march, stages, metro), read the page on Madrid Pride and LGBT Madrid. Book accommodation well in advance.

Veranos de la Villa

The City's summer festival usually begins in late June or in July; see the Veranos de la Villa page and the guide to Madrid in July.
