The comparison at a glance

Official ticket, free hours: the truth

Our Prado page gives a 15 euro ticket in October 2026, with free entry for everyone Monday to Saturday from 18:00 to 20:00 and on Sundays and public holidays from 17:00 to 19:00 (permanent collection), plus 18 May, 12 October and 19 November. Plain tickets are also sold on GetYourGuide (an 18 euro entry ticket, 4.6 out of 5, 23,389 reviews): more expensive than the official rate, they mainly spare you the ticket office. For the free hours, a queue often forms before 18:00. A guided tour takes place in the daytime at the full rate: you pay for the guide, not for better access. Prado small group (IBE Tours)

The best balance of reviews and price: 4.7 out of 5 from 2,457 reviews, 1.5 to 2 hours, with an optional tapas add-on. The listing asks you not to bring a backpack. See the tour.

Prado and Royal Palace

A half day of about 5 hours: start at the Prado, finish at the Royal Palace. Guides are described as knowledgeable and the pace as relaxed. Prices seen range from $75 to $89. See the tour.

Private tours

The 3-hour visit has 125 reviews at 5 out of 5 and a price seen around $308 for the group. The $167 per person offer (up to 9) has very few reviews: be careful. A review of an older private tour notes that admission was not included: check this. Private 3 h · Private skip-the-line.

Prado with tapas or e-bike

The Julia Travel offer (4.3 out of 5, 308 reviews) has a regular start at 10:30 or a small group at 11:30, with hotel pickup. We did not note the price. See the tour.

What is not included and the pitfalls

  • Skip-the-line. It avoids the ticket office, not always security: one listing warns that security queues can cause delays.
  • Backpacks. Banned or refused in some listings.
  • Photos. Not allowed in the galleries.
  • The ticket. Check that it is included, especially on private tours.
  • Language. A bilingual tour gives less detail, according to one review.
  • Prices. Seen in dollars, they vary by date.

Which offer should you choose?

  • Most visitors: the 1.5 to 2 hour small group.
  • Tight budget: ticket only, or a free visit during the free hours with a few rooms.
  • Family or group: the private tour, checking the ticket.
  • Culture day: Prado and Royal Palace.
  • First visit: look first for Velázquez, Goya and Bosch; the surroundings are in around the Prado.
