Three ways to extend
| Time added | Plan | Where to stay |
|---|---|---|
| One evening | Guided walk through the historic centre, tapas dinner | Stay near IFEMA |
| One day | Prado museum or Retiro park, lunch in the centre | One night in the centre |
| A weekend | Literary Quarter, Royal Palace, market, Toledo by train | Hotel in the centre for the added nights |
Getting from IFEMA to the centre
IFEMA is about 12 km from the centre; Barajas airport is around ten minutes from the exhibition centre according to IFEMA. Metro line 8 serves Feria de Madrid station on the south side, with a connection towards Nuevos Ministerios, and bus lines also reach the site (73, 112 and 122). A 3 EUR supplement applies to taxis entering the site. Leave extra time after the fair closes: trains are full at exit time.
What to do with an evening
A guided walk of Madrid lets you see the centre in a few hours without planning a route. End with tapas: see our tapas addresses in Madrid. With a full day, add the Prado museum or the Retiro park.
Hotel and organisation
Compare a hotel near IFEMA, handy for fair days, with a central hotel for the added nights: see hotels near IFEMA and our weekend in Madrid guide. Check with your employer what is covered for personal days, and check your travel insurance for those days. For meetings, see meeting rooms and wifi in Madrid.
